Job Duties:
Bucknell University Humanities Center seeks a part time Academic Assistant. The academic assistant supports the Center by managing administrative functions essential to its operations; oversees tasks such as budgeting, purchasing, and expense tracking; and provides logistical support for events, meetings, and projects. The academic assistant serves as a liaison between faculty, students, and external partners, addressing inquiries and maintaining clear communication, manages sensitive and confidential information, and ensures compliance with institutional policies. This individual may supervise student workers and coordinate hiring processes for faculty and staff roles. This part-time, approximately 20 hours per week, staff position is limited-benefits-eligible, and is currently funded for two to three years with the expectation of continued funding. Total annual hours are expected to be approximately 1040 hours.
What you will do:
- Provide comprehensive administrative support to faculty, staff, and students, including managing correspondence, preparing documents, and coordinating schedule
- Execute departmental events, meetings, and special projects. Handles logistics, communication, and follow-up to ensure successful execution.
- Maintain departmental budgets, processes purchase orders, tracks expenditures, and reconciles accounts to ensure financial accuracy and adherence to guidelines.
- Serves as a resource for students and faculty by addressing inquiries, coordinating student hires, and supporting departmental activities and goals
- Maintains sensitive and confidential records related to students, faculty, and departmental activities while ensuring compliance with institutional policies.

What you will bring:
Required:
- High School Diploma or GED
- 2 years work experience
Preferred:
- Associate's Degree, Business Administration or related field
- 4 years work experience
Skills & Abilities:
- Demonstrated analytical and critical thinking skills
- Ability to coordinate/administer programs, projects and activities; manage resources, monitor activites, and assess quality issues.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Ability to use Microsoft Office suite and/or Google Suite, and basic databases and software
- Ability to positive interact with a wide range of individuals and demonstrated skill in customer service
- Ability to anticipate and solve problems, and ensure timely completion of tasks.
- Ability to manage and monitor budgets and financial processes.

The offer rate will be based on a review of the candidate's credentials compared to the qualifications of the position, internal equity, and our overall compensation philosophy.
This role is not budgeted for visa sponsorship at this time, all candidates must be authorized to work in the US at the time of submission of the application.
