The Humanities to Career project funded by the Mandel Foundation focuses on integration of work-based learning and career-oriented skill-building/credentialing for a pilot group of approximately 100 students in the Humanities and Liberal Arts major programs. The Associate Director provides leadership and administrative support for a variety of functions related to the Humanities to Career project to build critical capacity in: 1) expansion of internships and work-based learning for Humanities and Liberal Arts students through the Career and Internship office, 2) integration of credentialing opportunities in Humanities and Liberal Arts programming through coordination of the Workforce Development and Humanities and Learning Communities divisions, and 3) stronger employer engagement in Humanities and Liberal Arts programming and the students.



This position reports to the Dean of Humanities and Learning Communities.



Provide leadership in project management.



  • Provide leadership and oversight of project including project workplan, sustainability plan, annual report, final report, and professional development.
  • Manage grant budget and distribute the financial reporting in accordance with the granter's guidelines.
  • Support data collection and analysis in collaboration with the Institutional Assessment and Planning.
  • Establish a project workgroup consisting of staff and faculty and foster seamless collaboration across the College.


Provide support for faculty in curricular innovations.



  • Support faculty coordinators on expanding the Ethnographies of Work into relevant programs across disciplines.
  • Support faculty recruitment, professional and curriculum development related to Ethnographies of Work expansion.
  • Serve as a project liaison between the College administrators and faculty.


Provide support for work-based learning.



  • Support the Learn and Earn Coordinator on outreach, engagement, training, and onboarding of employer partners.
  • Collaborate with various departments and programs across the College to support students with career navigation services.


Provide leadership in professional skills development credentialing



  • In collaboration with the Workforce and Economic Development Division, identify and select training opportunities that add potential value to Humanities and Liberal Arts students.
  • Engage faculty in design work to integrate certificates into Humanities and Liberal Arts courses and programming.


Job Requirements:
  • Master's Degree from an accredited institution of higher education.
  • A minimum of five years of relevant experience working in higher education administration.
  • A minimum of two years of project management and/or supervisory experience.
  • Demonstrated experience in collaboration across departments and work areas.
  • Demonstrated experience working with a diverse faculty, staff, and student population.
  • Demonstrated experience in supporting student success and equity initiatives.


Preferred Qualifications:



  • Master's Degree or Doctorate in Humanities and Liberal Arts.
  • Work experience at a community college.
  • Experience in managing a grant-funded project.
  • Familiarity with Ethnographies of Work, student internships, and stackable certificates.


Additional Information:

Salary Range: $80,000.00-$85,000.00. Actual Salary Will Be Commensurate With Education and Experience.
